About Our Studio

We are a small-but-mighty team of game dev veterans from some of your favorite indie and AAA hits. Now we’re focused on building a brand-new, sustainable studio where we can use our experience to do the best work of our careers.

We are recently founded and looking for collaborators who will have an outsized impact on the game we are building, as well as the studio itself.

 

About Our Project

We are building a first person, single-player, science-fiction adventure in Unreal Engine 5. It’s an original IP, driven by exploration and rich narrative.

 

Concept Artists Wanted!

We are seeking senior concept artists with the desire and ability to help us design a new sci-fi world.

You will work with the Art Director and our other creative leads to craft the visual identity of our first game: an original sci-fi IP built in UE5. As part of our small, experienced team, you will have the opportunity and the responsibility to push the style and the visual quality of the game. Our concept art should lead the art team forward, inspiring us to craft a world that is inspiring, memorable, and… a bit weird.

We are currently looking for both an environment concept artist and a character concept artist. Artists specializing in environments will focus on designing the world - structures, landscape, flora, props, ships, and machines. Artists specializing in characters will focus on costumes, creatures, tools, graphic elements, and more. All artists will have opportunities to impact every aspect of the game. You’ll have room to grow with the team and the project.

 

Work Task Examples

  • Collaborate with the Art Director, Narrative Director, and other creative leads on developing thematic concepts
  • Develop and pitch ideas with sketches, block-outs, thumbnails, or references
  • Iterate and refine concept art based on feedback and direction
  • Create inspiring illustrations that establish tone, and communicate the design direction of the game
  • Communicate and collaborate with the artists working on assets and in-engine to achieve the visual target

 

Requirements

  • A portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of design, form, light, and composition, including examples of sci-fi, weird, or realistic environments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

 

Nice-to-have Skills or Experience

  • Proven experience working on video game projects
  • Knowledge of games and the ability to communicate how your visual designs can integrate with the work of the other disciplines on the team
  • Knowledge of the sci-fi genre across media, both to draw inspiration from and to help us avoid falling into clichés
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling - either for concept art or in-game art - hard surface modeling, organic sculpting, lighting, and rendering
  • Experience using the Unreal Engine
  • Experience using Blender

 

Work Culture + Expectations

  • We are a fully remote studio, with travel opportunities for events and/or team summits. Travel is optional for most roles.
  • We are distributed across North American time zones. Expect flexible work hours, prioritizing asynchronous communication, with meetings during shared core hours.
  • Anyone able to legally work in the USA or Canada may be considered. As an Ontario-based organization, those working from within Ontario are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Our language of communication is English. Fluency in written and spoken English will be important for you to fully participate in workplace discussions.
