Achimostawinan Games is looking for a 3D Character Artist to join our talented team in creating quality, beautiful characters for our current project Hill Agency. We welcome applicants from a diverse background and especially welcome candidates who reflect our company mandate. ‍

Due to funding requirements, you must either be a Canadian citizen or have an approved Canadian work visa to apply. Otherwise, your application will not be considered.

Responsibilities‍

• Sculpt and model compelling, 3D characters, according to the game style and art direction;
• Create additional character assets such as hair, accessories, clothing, etc.;
• Texture the characters and character assets;
• Reflect the art direction of the project;
• Deliver clean and optimized low polygon models, and efficient UV layouts according to the project’s technical requirements;
• Manage own time and work efficiently within production deadlines;

Qualifications

• Understanding of the technical constraints in game development and ability to apply them when creating characters;
• Ability to work from reference materials such as photography or concept art;
• A good sense of anatomy, and proportions;
• Time management and ability to work within deadlines;
• Solid knowledge of digital sculpting - in ZBrush, Mudbox or equivalent software;
• Solid knowledge of low-poly modelling and UV mapping - in Maya, 3D Max or equivalent software;
• Excellent texturing skills in Substance Painter and/or Photoshop in a PBR workflow;
• Organized and clean workflow, compatible with a collaborative environment;
• Ability to absorb, apply and give constructive feedback;
• Ability to adapt to different artistic styles;
• Good English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Ability to create 3D animation rigs
• Previous experience in game development;
• Previous experience in Unreal Engine;
• Experience working in an Indigenous arts organization.

About Hill Agency: PURITY & decay

Our newest game is Hill Agency: PURITY & decay. It’s a detective mystery game where you play as a tough as nails P.I. solving everything from petty crimes to global conspiracies all while exploring the various different worlds that make up North America of the future.

The year is 2762 and you’re, Meeygun Hill, a tough as nails P.I. working in the slums of one of the last major cities in North America. Life is all missing kids and cheating spouses until a dame barges in from the Risen-City and changes your life. Her sister has been murdered and the cops are useless. It’s up to you to find out who the real murderer is. Murdered sisters, mind wiping drugs and flying palaces, this case goes way farther than the banks of this one detective’s little slum in this indigenous cybernoir. A narrative detective game in the spirit of Oxenfree and The Shiva that lets you solve who did it.
