Affordance Studio is a Montreal-based video game studio specializing in educational games and gamification. Affordance is currently looking for a producer to join the development team for their brand new narrative title, Windigo.

This is a unique opportunity ...

Windigo is a narrative exploration video game. The player plays two characters whose narratives intertwine. From a first-person point of view, the player crosses the territories of 17th century Canada, and discovers two completely different perspectives that reflect the respective POV of our two protagonists on their environment and their adventures. Their personal quests intersect as they must traverse the wild and hostile lands through the seasons, where cold winter is imminent ... and the Windigo lurks.

As a game producer, you will be responsible for the delivery and management of one or more projects. The main functions include: human resource management, follow-up with the different development teams, update to the JIRA management tool, redaction of production reports and the upkeep of communications with key stakeholders. Production is truly the heart and soul of the project and this department is responsible for its timely delivery. You will work in close collaboration with the creative and technical departments.   • Establish production goals in “sprint / milestone” development schedule and priorities, while maintaining guidelines;
  • Work with the leadership team to develop a headline vision and develop timelines, budgets and resources needed to ensure the vision is achieved;
  • Maintain positive customer relationships;
  • Manage and distribute development tasks among team members according to their skills and abilities;
  • Act as a resource person in team management (development, coaching, effectiveness evaluation, disciplinary measures, promotions);
  • Identify and communicate all the obstacles that may prevent teams from achieving the objectives set within the deadlines or concrete steps;
  • Deliver production reports to the project directors.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the video game industry in a management position;
  • Must have developed at least 1 video game title produced;
  • Ability to lead a team and product development using the AGILE methodology (Scrum Master Certification an asset);
  • Understanding of the different stages of creating a game;
  • Ability to evaluate development tasks;
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet production schedules;
  • Must demonstrate leadership, initiative, autonomy and flexibility;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Passion for video games;
  • Good knowledge of the Jira-Agile project management tool (an asset)
