We're hiring a Level Designer to join our team in a contract role, with the opportunity to grow to full time.

If you are passionate comfortable with the iteration and creative problem solving that a small team offers, we’d love to hear from you!

The Role

We’re seeking a Level Design contractor to help build and maintain custom 2D worlds used for multi-user online spaces and events in Bramble, a platform and social experience built for cultural events and gatherings. While video game experience is handy, we’re seeking designers who want to apply those skills in the context of a social world.

You’ll mainly work with the Experience Designer to help execute the level design vision, alongside a great technical team, incredibly talented illustrators, as well as the artists, community builders and passionate developers that make up the rest of our team. The community we empower is a wonderfully eclectic group of organizers, performers and generally fascinating people and you’ll be building for them.

If this piques your interest, definitely get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!

About You

Ideally, you are:

  • An experienced level designer: You’ve shipped at least one title or product as a level designer or have multiple years of level design experience.
  • A problem solver: You have good knowledge of level design concepts, are able to create digital social spaces that are aesthetically compelling. You’re able to identify the needs of a space and design for a target audience.
  • Technical and detail-oriented: You have experience with 2D level editing tools (Tiled Editor is a big plus). You are highly organized and are comfortable with version control (Git), managing and editing JSON files, and managing multiple versions of many files.
  • An excellent communicator: As a bridge between teams, you are able to communicate across creative and technical disciplines. You are able to help define and improve the pipeline and process for assets and features, and to update or write new specifications documents for our worlds or our processes.
  • A dependable collaborator: Iterating on designs based on feedback is natural to your workflow. You are able to work independently to produce high quality work within timeframes.

What's in it for you?

  • You will be creating scalable social infrastructure for artists, communities and cities around the world.
  • Our team is supportive, diverse and passionate. As an early stage product, the potential for leadership and growth is wide open.
  • A culture of values-driven technology.
  • Competitive salary, flexible hours and meaningful equity (stock options) if you’re full time.
  • Behind the scenes access to every Artery showcase and festival.

Closing date: June 15th, 2021.

Note: we will begin reviewing and interviewing candidates immediately so applying well before the closing date is strongly encouraged.

About Artery

Artery is a community and platform designed to bring people together for intimate cultural experiences.

We are tackling the next frontier of the sharing economy – culture. Our platform allows anyone to open their private spaces and self-organize intimate performances (music, dance, theatre, food, wellness, talks) that happen in their living rooms, backyards and storefronts. Last year our community co-created over 1,200 intimate performances using the platform, with thousands of paying attendees every month.

During the global pandemic, we’re applying these lessons to create a unique live streaming experience called Bramble. Here's what journalists say about us.
