Aurorian Studios is seeking a strong, autonomous, and creative Level Artist for an ongoing pixel stylized 3D video game project. The Level Artist will be responsible for ensuring that all levels are constructed in Unity 3D out of assets created by the art team to the highest level of visual presentation. Most levels are already designed in terms of overall layout, but require additional work to make them look good in game. The Level Artist will work very closely with artists and also collaborate with the development team for any technical needs, concerns, etc.

The game is a farm-life colony simulator made in Unity and already has a medium-sized team working full time. We are an extremely passionate team of indie devs located around the world, and as such we all work exclusively remotely.

Work is full-time equivalent with regular monthly payments, with an option for contribution-based revenue share if interested. The duration of the contract is expected to be around 8 months with some potential for extension after that.


  • At least 3 years of experience full time in modelling, texturing, lighting, and/or other relevant experience
  • 1+ years' experience working with Unity 3D or similar
  • Extremely strong sense of visual aesthetic and artistic sense, particularly when it comes to landscapes.
  • Understanding of art fundamentals: lighting, composition, color theory, etc.
  • Knowledge of 3D software (e.g. Blender or Maya) and optimization techniques
  • Solid interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and resourcefulness
  • Creativity and a keen eye for detail!
  • Mastery of spoken and written English


  • Have worked on a completed game or other media where the landscapes/scenery played a critical role in the overall experience
  • Level design/UX experience
  • Experience working with Git and/or Perforce, preferably with Unity 3D
  • Leadership Skills
  • Previous experience specifically as a Level Artist
