BancyCo is seeking a 2D Artist/Animator to help create in-game art, assets, and animate Spine rigs for its fourth, unannounced game project (for console and PC). Express humour and creativity in a brand new IP by a friendly, highly experienced team!


😙 About the Job

  • Create new, full-colour 2D assets (characters, props, etc.) for implementation into Spine.
  • Support Lead Artist in updating or colouring existing 2D assets per style guidelines.
  • Animate characters and objects in Spine for use in Unity gameplay scenes and timelines.
  • This is a contract position. Duration is medium term (~8 months).
  • Work is remote; check-ins and meetings will be conducted regularly via video meetings and a team server.
  • Weekly workload is flexible; 1–3 days per week depending on artist availability and each milestone’s needs.
  • Project is a (planned) Teen-rated game for console and PC.


🙏 Requirements

  • Familiar with anime (or similar) art styles.
  • Ability to create artwork based on established art styles/guidelines.
  • Excellent understanding of human anatomy.
  • Prior experience animating characters and objects in Spine.
  • Access to up-to-date Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop).
  • Ability to plan assets with consideration for reusability, modularity and variation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate feedback and contribute ideas for art assets.
  • Good collaboration skills; you’ll receive direction from the Creative Director and will be part of a team structure.
  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Review project documentation to understand lore, creative, and technical considerations
  • Good organizational skills. You’ll review and update tasks via project management software and meet with the team via video chats.
  • Artist must live and work in Ontario, Canada.


👍 Nice-to-Haves

  • Ability to use Unity to implement in-game assets within scenes, as directed.
  • Prior experience with version control software (Plastic).
  • Ability to work consistent days (e.g. Wednesday to Friday) each week for improved team integration.


💰 Pay

Project-based or hourly. $35-50/hour (CAD) depending on skills and experience.
