Our founding team consists of games, game technology, media, and entrepreneurial leaders that are striving to build live services that last for decades. Our first live service is based on a well-established fantasy IP and aims to connect camp-fire survival (co-op) with tactical dungeons (action) and an economic hub (trading).

Level Designer (m/f/d)

Forge the worlds of Ultracore that deepen players’ lives! Our mission is to create a new gaming experience within the Survival Sandbox genre. The massive open world of Tormentosia with its capital Corheim and multiple Adventures await to be explored by players.

We’re looking for a talented Level Designer to bring the world of Ultracore to life by constructing new zones that will engage, surprise, and delight our players.

Your responsibilities:

  • Create design documentation and illustrate your designs using 2D maps and diagrams, then Whitebox them in Unreal Engine 5
  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as Environment Art, Systems Design, and Animation to deliver a fun, high-quality player experience
  • Create a compelling level flow that players are happy to return to again and again
  • Infuse our IP into our world through compelling environmental storytelling
  • Further, evolve and help establish the standards for a fantastic level design in Ultracore
  • Actively engage in and seek out play-testing for your levels to get feedback
  • Use feedback effectively from our players, the team, and data

Your profile:

  • 3+ years of industry experience working in games in a Level Design role
  • You provide examples of levels you’ve created in shipped games
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A great collaborator in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong eye for artistic composition and world-building

Preferred:

  • Experience building levels for open-world games
  • Experience designing levels in a massively multiplayer context
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine

Our Game: Ultracore

Ultracore is a social survival sandbox game trying to modernize the genre with combining an instanced social hub where the whole game population can meet, trade and socialize with persistent survival sandbox world where the player is exploring the world of Ultracore.

Ultracore is based on the most popular German Pen & Paper show with Millions of views on YouTube and thousands of fan arts and a vibrant community. The game is build as a free-to-play live-service and planned to release on all platforms. The author of Ultracore Hauke Gerdes is Creative Director and Co-Founder together with a strong team of industry veterans.

Blankhans, the company behind the Ultracore game recently finished its Series Seed and got funded by the global leading games fund Griffin Gaming Partners.
