Cebuware Inc. is a new game development studio based in Cebu City, Cebu. We love games and believe that the majority of all studios shouldn’t just be based in a handful of countries around the globe. Games are not just meant to be experienced by everyone, but also to be made by everyone. Cebuware Inc. is looking for a talented and entrepreneurial Technical Game Designer who can work on several different aspects of the game design process such as level design, systems design, gameplay scripting and more. The Technical Game Designer will not only help design out core systems and functionality with other members of the design team, but will also help directly implement them in collaboration with the programming team by utilizing the Blueprint Visual Scripting system inside Unreal Engine. This role is critical to Cebuware Inc. and will support multiple stakeholders and requires an individual who is able to work both independently and collaboratively as and when needed. Overtime, this role will evolve in order to meet the needs of a dynamic and evolving indie game development studio.

The project you would be part of is a first-person immersive sim that is being built using Unreal Engine 5 and is being developed to be released on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Solid background in an object-oriented programming language such as C++, C# or Java
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on authoring new game systems and features from the ground up in conjunction with other members of the design and programming departments
• Understands the iterative nature of game development and is willing to work on and improve things as much as needed to reach perfection
• Excellent communication both written and oral using English
• Positive attitude and team player who is willing to work on all aspects of game design including but not limited to things such as: System Design, Combat Design, Level Design, Narrative Design, UI/UX Design
• Able to keep Game Design Documentation up to date by documenting new features and systems while also keeping old documentation up-to-date
• Extreme passion for video games, especially single player immersive sims and RPG's.
• Can step outside comfort zone on a daily basis to work on things you never thought you could accomplish before
• You are someone who is willing to take risks, fail fast and learn quickly

Bonus Points:

• Completed B.S. in Computer Science, Game Design or other similar degree program.
• Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 using the Blueprint Visual Scripting system
• Experience with spreadsheet tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable or something similar
• Portfolio of your demonstrable previous experience as a Game Developer in any role
• Experience using Source Control such as PlasticSCM, Git, Alienbrain, Perforce or something similar
• Experience with Project Management tools such as Jira, Asana, or something similar.

This is a 100% full-time position that comes with all government mandated benefits in the Philippines. Our physical office is located in Cebu City, Philippines and we would love it if you could work in person with us at our office, but we are otherwise open to people all across the Philippines provided they are Filipino nationals or are legally able to work in the Philippines.
