Full Time
Wellington, NZ

It’s been an exciting few years for Dinosaur Polo Club! Mini Motorways continues to be a big success and our team has been growing to support it and Mini Metro, and also start work on new titles. We’re now looking for an intermediate or senior artist to expand the capacity of our art team and continue to develop our Mini franchise – hopefully that someone is you!

We’re looking for someone with several years of experience as a games artist. Given that you’ll be working on Mini Motorways and Mini Metro it would be ideal if some of your work has been in the graphic design or UX space. You will be working alongside an art team with extensive experience within this space so there will be plenty of handover time and support. You’ll also be working closely with the design team to work on ideating new concepts, and the programming team on implementation guides and providing feedback.

Due to Covid-19 travel and immigration restrictions, applicants must currently be living in New Zealand.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support and continue the art development of the Mini franchise, including Mini Motorways and future Mini titles.
  • Develop and maintain concept imagery, visual design documentation and previsualisation material.
  • Create high quality game assets including UI, 2D and 3D assets, animations and marketing material.
  • Ensure that developed and implemented art assets respect the creative vision of the game and meet the studio’s quality standards.
  • Work with the production department to manage prioritisation and timelines of art tasks throughout the development cycle of a project.
  • Regularly take part in project reviews, both offering and responding to feedback from your peers.
  • Nurture a close working relationship with your department and wider team, liaising with the other departments to ensure robust understanding of implementation requirements.
  • Share knowledge, recommend best practices and support the development of junior team members.

What we can offer you:

  • A lovely bunch of skilled and enthusiastic team members for you to make games with.
  • Compelling projects to work on, from our award-winning games Mini Metro and Mini Motorways to not-yet announced projects.
  • Generous training allowance for things such as conferences, workshops, online courses and self-directed learning.
  • Dedicated ideation and training days.
  • Support structure including fortnightly one-on-ones.
  • Team activities such as a quarterly pot-luck lunch, movie nights at the studio and more.
  • Healthy snacks, yummy treats and close proximity to some of Wellington’s best eateries! Plus an impressive array of locally made tea and coffee.
  • Quarterly personal discretionary wellness allowance.
  • Monthly workplace massages.
  • Friday afternoon socials.
  • Flexible workplace with core hours and optional work-from-home days.

Remuneration and next steps:

If this strikes you as an exciting opportunity, we’d love to hear from you! Flick us an email at careers@dinopoloclub.com with your CV and cover letter. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Annual remuneration will depend on your seniority and experience, ranging from $70k-$100k.
  • Annual training budget of NZ$7k. This was designed to cover NZGDC in New Zealand, GCAP in Melbourne and GDC in San Francisco, but can be tailored to local workshops, online or self-directed learning.
  • Annual contribution of NZ$1k towards your health and wellbeing.
  • Quarterly bonuses based on studio performance.
  • The position is full-time and on-site in beautiful Wellington, New Zealand. We have a relocation budget for remote applicants.
