Double Loop Games is looking for a Quality Assurance Lead with experience working on F2P live operated mobile games, to create testing processes, perform in-house testing, oversee external QA testers, to ensure high quality releases.
WHO WE ARE
We are a well-funded mobile game start-up focused on making delightful, relaxing experiences for the biggest audience in games: people who don’t think of themselves as gamers.
We're building an environment that's transparent, respectful, and family-friendly. Our current team is in California and Oregon, but we're happy to work with people remotely anywhere in the Americas. Diverse candidates encouraged. Kindness expected.
WHO DO WE WANT
Double Loop Games is looking for a QA Lead who has deep knowledge and experience in testing live-operated mobile games, ensuring bug-free live updates, player account integrity, and exceptional player-facing experience. The QA Lead will research submission requirements, create testing procedures and workflows according to best practices, and work closely with Production, Design, Engineering, Art and Data to develop test plans. They will also perform in-house testing and reporting, and help select and then manage external QA testers when we need to scale up test capacity for live launches.
You would be a perfect match for this position if you thrive in a heavily collaborative and iterative environment, you are enthusiastic about developing testing processes, managing bug databases, and ensuring high quality launches, and you are excited by the opportunity to make a visible impact on our games.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the team understands and uses best practices for testing live-operated mobile games, including versioning, test staging, cloning live accounts to test with, and more
Research and maintain latest information on submission requirements to the App Store, Google Play, etc.
Develop functional test cases and test plans curated to specific phases of development, (including Production, limited Soft Launch, and Global Launch), and specific title features, and mock review feedback
Perform functional and compliance testing, overseeing the execution of test plans and enforce accurate bug reporting
Work closely with Production to set up submission and test accounts with 1st Party App Stores, and to test and submit builds
Triage bugs; review all issues entered by internal and external teams to ensure bug reports include required information, are properly assigned, and conform to Double Loop QA standards
Reviews all disputed (‘Not a Bug,’ ‘Will Not Fix,’ and ‘Duplicate’) issues with Production
Help to evaluate and choose external QA vendors
Manage QA resources and schedule for yourself and external test teams that will be scaled up and down through development phases
Help select, and then lead an external QA test team. Act as their main point of contact, communicating their priorities and requirements, monitoring and evaluating their bug quality, and ensuring that proper workflow is followed.
Review and assess compliance reports from App Stores
Work with engineering to automatically generate meaningful daily reports on title quality and stability
Create daily or weekly, as needed, reports summarizing title quality, stability, and issues for stakeholders
Communicate significant game breaking and qualitative issues to Producers and company leadership
Research, document, and maintain a knowledge base of first-party test tools, technical requirements, and best practices
Progressively refine test and general processes for continuous improvement in development and live operations
Coordinate the setup of hardware and test resources
Manage bug database onboarding, usage, and reporting quality for internal and external team
Understand and embrace the constraints of a game development cycle (you know when bug fixing, and optimization become more important than new features.)
