We're looking for our team's first Technical Artist, who has a wealth of Unreal Engine and artistic experience. You must be proficient with Unreal Engine 5, creating beautiful environments, and optimizing visuals for better performance. Ideally you also have experience with Lighting / Atmospherics and Materials / Shaders. (Rigging / Animation is not needed for the role).
You will be the central member of DreamWorld's art team, ensuring the game looks as great as possible while still hitting target performance. You will be coordinating with the team's Art Director, 3D Artist, and Character Artist.
You should take this job if you are:
DreamWorld is the massive digital world where everyone creates together. Think Minecraft or Roblox, except one immersive social world.
Look at the software that has fundamentally changed how people live: Search (Google), Social Networks (Facebook), Ecommerce (Amazon). Now think of what will come in the next 25. One of these monumental shifts will be the pervasiveness of the Digital World, and it is our goal to create it.
We believe this Digital World will rise out of the medium that's had the seeds of it for a while, Gaming. So, we are building a massive Sandbox MMO, with the game focused on User Creation and Socializing. You can think of our initial goal as creating a successor to Minecraft and World of Warcraft.
A note from Work With Indies: DreamWorld was mired in controversy at the time of its Kickstarter in 2021. DreamWorld has since grown their team, launched their Early Access, and continued development. In addition to the criticisms, we urge you to watch this interview with their CEO in full as you consider applying for this role.
We have no opinion or additional information about the DreamWorld game or team, but wanted to provide the above links so you can perform your own research and diligence.
