E-Line Phoenix is seeking a talented and passionate Gameplay Designer to join our design team and help initially with development on Beyond Blue. This position will work directly with the creative director, art director, other designers, and programmers on the design and implementation of gameplay systems, including event scripting, AI design, and level design. Our ideal candidate has experience using Unity to design and script compelling gameplay sequences, a broad interest in diverse areas of game development, and a critical eye for opportunities to improve the quality of the game.

Although our team is based in Phoenix, we are open to exploring the possibility of the position being remote for the right candidate.

As our Gameplay Designer, you will ...

  • Work with the Creative Director and engineering team to create compelling, immersive game experiences.
  • Propose and implement systematic gameplay and quests to create a vast array of activities for player engagement.
  • Collaborate with Production to coordinate task lists to ensure assignments are progressing as expected according to schedules, milestones, and overall project goals.

We’re looking for someone who has …

  • 3+ years scripting and implementing games with Unity, focused on Level and Quest creation.
  • General knowledge and understanding of Unity’s systems related to gameplay, including AI, camera, input controls, animation sequences, and physics.
  • High self-motivation and drive.
  • The ability to actively participate and offer creative solutions to game design challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to effectively collaborate with a team of other programmers, artists, and designers.

It’s a bonus if you have …

  • Shipped one or more games built in Unity.
  • Samples of completed Unity game projects you have directly contributed to.
  • A passion for video games.
