E-Line Phoenix is looking for an exceptionally skilled Senior 3D Character Artist to join our art team and help initially with development on Beyond Blue. Candidates should have extensive experience working with modeling/sculpting tools to achieve a unique character and sea creature style. Our ideal candidate has an impeccable eye for aesthetic quality, excellent visual and verbal communication skills as well as a deep, hands-on understanding of current-gen game development from concept to launch.

Although our team is based in Phoenix, we are open to exploring the possibility of the position being remote for the right candidate.

As our Senior 3D Character Artist, you will ...

  • Create highly detailed and believable 3D human and sea creature models/textures for use in-game.
  • Collaborate with animators and riggers to ensure characters and sea creature models are using best practices and are set up correctly for rigging and animation.
  • Participate in the research and development of new tools, lighting features, and shaders.
  • Collaborate with other artists, designers, and engineers to create amazing gameplay experiences.
  • Ensure that all character art assets are built in accordance with the game art style, are technically sound, and completed on schedule
  • Partner with production to build, evaluate and revise art schedules and manage art pipelines

We’re looking for someone who has …

  • 5+ years full cycle console or PC game development experience on products demonstrating a high visual bar, with one or more shipped titles as senior character artist or lead from concept through release.
  • A self-motivator, owning character models from conception, evolution, and the final stages of polish, always striving to deliver work on time.
  • Strong understanding of human and animal anatomy.
  • Exceptional ability at concepting, modeling, and creating 3D art.
  • Mastery of standard art packages such as Maya,(3DS Max or Blender) Photoshop, and Zbrush.
  • Experience working with a game engine and implementing 3D work into the pipeline.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, team player attitude.
  • Calm, positive and professional attitude while working under multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to articulate complex visual ideas with clarity and conviction.

It’s a bonus if you have …

  • Strong knowledge of Unity’s art production pipeline.
  • Strong hands-on abilities in traditional art, drawing, painting, illustration and/or concept art
  • Avid gamer on multiple platforms.
  • Experience with VR
