We’re looking for an Art Director who is passionate about creating gorgeous and imaginative art for games. While our office is located in San Francisco, Funomena supports a hybrid workplace allowing our team to work from anywhere.

In this role you’ll be responsible for overseeing the visuals being developed across the studio, and developing concepts or key art for specific projects or pitches. You’ll work closely with the team Leads to ensure that the art and ideas fit with the mood and goals of the game. You will have experience as the vision holder from the beginning of a project all the way to it’s ship date.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate concept art to define the look of the game
  • Collaborate with the team to holistically develop the art with the design
  • Provide feedback to production artists to steer the look of  final assets
  • Mentor other concept artists and help provide feedback on any concept work
  • Manage progress to meet deadlines, and communicate progress to team
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Work closely with external brand partners
  • Guiding work from inception to completion
  • Collaborative ideation with studio leadership
  • Ship games, learn, and grow as we do!

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in concept art or visual development
  • Fluent in an art software; Adobe Suite, etc.
  • A range of skills and styles, and the flexibility to adapt artwork
  • An understanding of the game art pipeline
  • Educated at the university level, or possess an equivalent level of industry experience
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas verbally & visually across multi-disciplinary team
  • Creative problem solving and curiosity for topics beyond games

Nice to have:

  • Experience with game engines like Unity and Unreal
  • Other artistic skills such as UI/UX or animation
  • Experience working in mobile
  • Experience working on an IP

Luna: Moondust Garden is a new story from Luna’s award-winning, IGF-finalist VR fairytale storybook world brought directly into your living room through the wonders of Magic Leap technology. Luna: Moondust Garden crafts a unique, intimate experience by leveraging Magic Leap’s scene reconstruction (room scanning) and spatialized audio which allows you to see the story coming to life in your environment.


In Wattam, more than 100 wacky and carefree characters are waiting to be unlocked and become your friends, from sushi to seashells, and gigantic trees to normal-sized toilets. The Mayor will be your tour guide through this whimsical world, as you dance, chase, climb, stack, float, explode and hold hands through all the fun.
