Game If You Are, a marketing agency for indie game developers and small publishers, is looking for an eager and ambitious Marketing Strategy Manager. This is a full-time permanent position and entirely remote-working, even after the pandemic.

In a fast-paced role within a rapidly evolving agency, you’ll work as part of a small team of passionate marketing professionals – delivering a high-quality marketing strategy development service for our clients. This is a hands-on and client-facing position, in which you’ll work with studios making exciting, innovative indie games – and play a key role in their success.

This would be a great role for someone with some previous experience in the games industry, ideally in a marketing role but we are also open to applicants who are looking to move into marketing from other areas such as journalism or community management.

What you'll do.

  • You’ll develop and deliver inventive marketing strategies and plans for a range of indie game clients, under the direction of the Head of Client Strategy.
  • You’ll manage a roster of clients, acting as their key point of contact as you guide them through the strategy development process. ]
  • You’ll research audiences, develop and distribute surveys, and pick apart competitors to figure out what they did well, what they didn’t do so well, and what our clients can learn from them.
  • Then, you’ll work to put all of this learning together into coherent, comprehensive and actionable reports and planning documents.
  • You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with and support other areas of the business, such as promoting our agency to potential new clients.
  • You’ll probably get to play a lot of games, too. Yes, we do mean during working hours.

Our ideal candidate.

  • You know video games and have worked in the sector in some capacity – ideally in a marketing role, but applicants with other relevant experience will be considered. You especially appreciate the innovation and creativity of the indie games scene.
  • You have a good working knowledge of a range of marketing practices that are relevant to indie games, and like to stay ahead of the curve.
  • You’re a fast and eager learner. You pick up new skills quickly and you’re always hungry to develop your knowledge and experience.
  • You’re a very good communicator. You’re as good at listening as you are at talking. You can write clearly and concisely, precisely and quickly, with a great command of the English language.
  • You’re exceptionally organised. Stuff doesn’t slip your mind, because you’ve developed techniques to retain and process lots of information. You know all your deadlines, and you don’t miss them.
  • You have a particularly logical mind. You pick up on small details and can see how they link together. You know how to devise a clear plan of action, and are comfortable justifying it with evidence.

This is a client-facing role, and one of your most vital traits will be your ability to forge positive relationships with our clients. You’ll be comfortable leading meetings, speaking on the phone, and presenting your work. You’ll be an impeccable communicator, whether in writing, on a call, or in person. Crucially, you’ll be a skilled active listener, with the ability to pick apart and understand what our clients are looking for, coach nervous first-time developers through the marketing process, and identify when there is an unvoiced issue bubbling away beneath the surface.

You probably live in the UK. You might live outside the UK, in which case you’ll be committed to working normal UK business hours and open to signing a freelance contract instead of a standard employment contract.
