We are seeking a full-time Art Lead (3D Environment Artist) for our flagship and future games at our growing remote studio!

Working with a team of talented artists the Art Lead will help lead, create and manage the visual direction for an exciting cross-platform online game! This role will directly manage a small, but growing art team.

The Art Lead will conceive, design, model, and texture beautiful, timeless, stylized fantasy-adventure worlds and props -- lush environments rich with awe-inspiring vistas, beautiful landmarks, ancient buried history and thoughtful narrative storytelling.

We seek collaborative individuals that are excited to contribute innovative and original ideas across all aspects of the game's design & production, working together as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Use concept art to develop and drive an original and innovative art style for the game
  • Manage and build a team of artists to work with and support you
  • Work with other artists and disciplines to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines and pipelines for art in the game
  • Develop environments, art assets, and props to be featured in the game
  • Ensure that all assets created by the art team and outsource studios conform to the style and technical guidelines of the title
  • Participate in and run meetings, reviews, and planning as part of effective communication with the team and outsourcing studios
  • Inspire, motivate, and mentor other artists in best practices, processes, and procedures pertaining to production
  • Work closely with the production team in creating schedules for the art department and outsourcing studios
  • Collaborate effectively with Marketing and PR teams to create and deliver high quality art assets in support of the game

Qualifications

  • Strong, proven background in 3D environment art
  • Ability and drive to contribute innovative and original ideas across all aspects of the game's design & production
  • Experience managing and mentoring artists
  • Proven art pipeline creation and maintenance
  • Experience creating a broad range of art styles in 3D
  • Proficient with standard industry tools like Maya, 3DS Max, Z-Brush, Substance Designer, and Photoshop, with a high capacity to learn new tools
  • Experience with Unity 3D and/or Unreal Engine
  • Experience with Merging Software (Plastic SCM, Git, Perforce, etc)
  • Effective analytical, written, oral, team, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of modern processes and techniques, including 3D modeling, shaders, lighting, and composition
  • Located in PT, MT, CT, ET timezone, or willing to relocate

Bonus Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of current-gen techniques for creating terrain, foliage, architecture, vista assets, and skyboxes
  • Experience with procedural building techniques and best-practices
  • Interest in Game Design and compelling multiplayer interactions
  • Experience with 3D character design
