  • There are some issues related to Photon that we need fixed, like with players’ character selections are changed by other players joining/leaving a room
  • Add online support for recent mechanics/features that have been added to the single player mode
  • Revise how users connect with each other for online matches works
  • The game currently allows users to play with each other online by inviting friends through Steam
  • We’d like to change it so users can either start or join a room using an easily shareable code

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of experience with Photon
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in Unity3D
  • Has worked on at least 1 shipped game
  • Willing to learn new workflows, self-motivated, curious
  • Detail-oriented, thoughtful, and aware of dependencies across systems and schedules‍
  • Be very comfortable working remotely (we’re a virtual studio; everyone works from home!)
  • Live in a US-adjacent timezone or be willing to work from 9am to 2pm MT from Monday through Friday
  • Great communication and collaborative skills working with a team of other designers, developers, and creatives
  • Ability to both give and receive criticism in a constructive and goal-oriented way
  • Ability to problem-solve and work around technical and budget constraints
  • Detail-oriented, thoughtful, and aware of dependencies across systems and schedules‍
  • You are able to communicate in fluent English

Nice to Have

  • Experience with 2d physics games
  • Anything else you feel might be relevant!

Location

  • Remote-first team since 2011
  • US preferred, but open to someone in a similar time zone range as well
  • This is a contract position which is expected to last about 6 months; this arrangement could continue if things are going well for both parties
  • This role is flexible time-wise
  • This role is contract, so it does not include salaried benefits
  • Please include specific questions with your application

How to Apply

We love having a diverse team and seeing under-represented candidates apply. Please send us your resume even if you aren’t sure you’re exactly what we’re looking for. Worst case, we say it’s not a good fit right now and have your info ready to go for when a more fitting role opens up. Best case, you get to work with people that will love working with you too!

About
Giant Fox Studios

Giant Fox Studios is a creative digital agency founded in 2011 that focuses on games, but also works in web and app development. We started off making Flash games for clients like Bored.com, which then expanded into taking on clients for mobile games. We now have consistent client projects that help fund the development of our own indie games. The team is made up of one founder, Jaime, and a wide range of contractors. This includes industry veterans that have worked on AAA games like Hearthstone, Madden, and DragonVale. Because of this structure, our team is very flexible and usually hired per project. However, many contractors choose to continue working with us on new projects that come up as well.

We care very much about the people we work with and strive to exceed expectations. We hope to be a significant, but not dominating, part of your life. We want you to have friends, family, hobbies, and a life outside of work. We work as a team - we want you to love your colleagues and to also know that they support you 100%. We want you to be proud of what you do and how you do it.

Since 2011 we’ve been a fully remote team. We generally have team meetings in the morning (US timezone), but outside of that, you are able to work whenever you’d like to. As long as you keep the team updated regularly, we are quite flexible.

We love learning from each other and have knowledge shares where a team member picks a topic they are passionate about to share. It’s an optional thing, but we love learning together and helping each other grow.
