Hidden Door is an early stage company building the future of immersive narrative entertainment. Our first product is an online multiplayer experience for playing and sharing adventures across a variety of creator-led story worlds, enabled by a new kind of narrative AI.

The role

The Community Lead will be responsible for defining and executing our community marketing strategy, representing the voice of our players in product and business discussions, and crafting the communications that represent us and our brand to the world.

This is a hit-the-ground-running role at the intersection of community and marketing. In your first 90 days, you'll join us as we prepare an initial launch whose audience will include players (primarily tweens and teens), parents, and creators. Together, we will rapidly iterate to create a uniquely amazing experience.

We're building a product that enables players to experience diverse stories and explore identities in a rich variety of worlds. A healthy, active, and creative community is vital for our players and our product to thrive.

About you

We'd love to meet if you have:

  • Built and grown a community from the ground up.
  • Experience reaching diverse audiences including tweens, gamers, and parents.
  • Experience with telling stories across diverse channels including, but not limited to, social media and forums.
  • Superlative writing skills and the ability to produce livestreamed and recorded video content.
  • A proven ability to build relationships with community, industry, and/or academic leaders and influencers.
  • Developed and driven marketing plans to support product launches.
  • Used data to inform community and marketing strategy.
  • A strong point of view on industry standards and best practices to drive healthy, engaged communities.

Bonus:

  • Worked on, and have opinions about, products for kids.
  • A love of storytelling and games, of any type.
  • Worked on products involving machine learning and/or data-informed product development.

  • We're a small, international, fully remote team, currently focused on US and Western European time zones.
  • Sometimes we meet up! In better times we expect to travel a few times a year to get together for planning and fun.
  • While this is a full-time job, we are flexible about working hours and trust you to bring your best. Both co-founders have young children and we are committed to a healthy, balanced life.
