We're looking for an executive assistant / operations coordinator to support our growing team!

Hidden Door is a game technology studio building the first narrative AI — a platform that transforms any work of fiction into an infinite social roleplaying experience, bringing together players, authors and other creators.

Role overview

We're looking for an executive assistant / operations coordinator to support our founders as we scale! In this role you'll play a critical role in growing Hidden Door as we build the future of immersive entertainment, with primary responsibility for coordinating a variety of activities including calendar management, team meetups, interviews, finance and HR operations.

Things you'll do:

  • Support founders in scheduling and calendar management.
  • Plan travel, agenda, and activities for global team meetups and events.
  • Coordinate remote candidate interview experiences.
  • Handle finance and HR operations, such as invoice management, new employee onboarding, and related tasks.

About you

We'd love to meet if you have:

  • Excellent judgement and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take high-level direction, figure out a plan, and get things done. You are extremely reliable.
  • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time.
  • Fluency with e-mail, calendars, Slack/Discord, spreadsheets, etc.

And it'd be ideal if you also have:

  • A passion for fiction and/or playing RPGs.

Other things to know

  • We're a small, fully remote international team, focused on North American and Western European time zones.
  • Several times a year, the whole team gets together IRL for planning and fun. Recently we've been to New Orleans and Lisbon!
  • While this is a full-time position, we're flexible about working hours and trust you to bring your best. Both co-founders have young children and we are committed to a healthy, balanced life.
  • This is a startup 😉 We're building a company together as much as we are building a game together, and we want your help.
  • We value curiosity, creativity, and diverse perspectives.
  • We strongly encourage candidates from under-represented or non-traditional backgrounds to apply.

How to apply

Our application form will ask you to provide a resume or LinkedIn profile, tell us a bit about yourself, and share a story about something you've built that you're proud of and how it makes you a good fit for this opportunity. If you run into any issues, just email us.

Hidden Door

Hidden Door is building the narrative multiverse at the intersection of machine learning and immersive entertainment. Launching in 2022, our first product is a social game platform for playing stories with friends across a variety of shared creative universes. Our mission is to inspire creativity through play with AI, using natural language, vibrant art, and playful social storytelling experiences.

Our underlying technology platform is built on extensible proprietary models of language and art, based on millions of stories. Through its APIs, developers can build online experiences for interactively improvising new stories together with groups of players, while adhering to rigorous content and safety standards. In the future, this will enable creators to automatically adapt existing works for this new medium.

Founded in early 2020 by Hilary Mason and Matt Brandwein, we're proud to be backed by Northzone, Makers Fund, Betaworks, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, Homebrew, and angels Dan Sturman (CTO of Roblox) and Joshua Schacter (founder of del.icio.us).

Featured Game

A new kind of social roleplaying experience, powered by narrative AI.

Hidden Door's first product is social game platform for playing stories with friends across a variety of shared creative universes.

Friends team up to remix story worlds styled as interactive graphic novels. With the storytelling vibe of a tabletop roleplaying game — including a playful AI narrator — anyone can improvise endless adventures together with a host of responsively generated NPCs, items, and locations. These, in turn, can be collected, traded, and shared with friends to remix into new worlds and stories. In the future, the game will expand to include a marketplace for content from professional writers, artists, and other players.
