Ironwood Studios is a new Seattle based AA game studio composed of experienced developers. We’re looking for an Environment Artist to join our small team to bring places to life in our first unannounced title, a genre-bending, systems-driven 3D game set in a surreal and mysterious world.

As an environment artist on the project, your responsibility will be to art out the spaces and levels that make up our unique world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the lead environment artist
  • Turn ideas/reference/concept art into finished modeled and textured environment assets (manmade, organic, etc)
  • Working in the Unreal Engine 4 editor to populate and build out levels
  • Collaborate with level designers to create spaces that drive players and create dynamic experiences
  • Work with narrative to tell stories with your environments and to convey the themes of the plot.
  • Participate in team brainstorming bringing your ideas and experiences to the table

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • At least 1 shipped title (AAA or AA) as an environment artist (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficient knowledge of  3D environment creation, pipelines, and industry standard software
  • Very strong modeling skills (custom normal workflow, low to high poly)
  • Strong texturing ability, familiarity with PBR workflow and realtime shader use
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 and familiarity with its technical constraints
  • Has an excellent portfolio clearly showing your previous work as an artist
  • Experience working with version control (we use Perforce)
  • A good sense for light, color, and 3D composition

BONUS POINTS:

  • Comfortable in small development team settings (less than 25)
  • Familiarity with Houdini & Houdini Engine
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Substance Designer
  • Experience creating 3D art for stylized games

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING:

  • 40 hour/week paid contract role (16 months)
  • PST Time zone hours (+/- 3 hours)
  • Remote at start, on-site when it’s safe is preferred (relocation not included)
  • Revenue sharing
  • Opportunity to work on an exciting new IP
