UI Programmer

Junkfish Ltd is looking for a talented UI Programmer to join our team remotely over the next 6 months. You will have the opportunity to join our expanding team to work on the upcoming multiplayer sequel to our cult-classic horror game, Monstrum 2. Your role will be to improve Monstrum 2’s existing and future UI, working with the development team in the UK to implement and polish various menus, ensuring that they have the required features and are made to a high standard.  As the UI programmer, you will also be assisting us in the creative aspects of the UI, and will need to work with player management systems to handle aspects of the game, such as storefronts and achievements.

You’ll be given your chance to help shape Monstrum 2 and will be encouraged to give feedback, alongside all other disciplines, to the team as a whole.


  • Implementing the User Interface in accordance to specifications set by the design leads, including: text displays, HUD, menus, and game elements
  • Assist with the development and presentation of player data such as the log-in screen, players statistics, and the in-game storefront
  • Taking responsibility for debugging the UI to ensure a stable product
  • Working with the team on other systems beyond UI when necessary
  • Review and giving feedback on new systems, designs, and gameplay experiences

Need To Have

  • At least one shipped game as a Unity Programmer, having worked with Unity’s UI systems
  • Good working knowledge of Unity, C#, and its UI systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent industry experience
  • Able to estimate their own tasks and assist the programming team with planning
  • Experience with optimisation work for stability and performance

Nice To Have

  • Experience with player management systems such as Playfab
  • Worked on a title for PC and / or consoles
  • Experience in a previous UI Programmer role desirable
  • Knowledge of Steam, Microsoft, and Sony’s certification requirements and UI best practices
