Moving Pieces is a small independent game studio based in Brooklyn, NY. Founded in 2019, our first title, Dodo Peak, was a launch title for Apple Arcade and is also out on Nintendo Switch. We are a small team who has a lot of fun with our work and maintains a healthy work/life balance.

Our next project, Shoulders of Giants, is an action roguelike where you simultaneously control two characters to collect an arsenal of abilities and bring light back to a dark universe.

We are looking for an in-house content creator to help show our game off to the world via social media.

Some more background: we have had multiple opportunities to showcase Shoulders of Giants both online and off, and we know that the game has great pull when people see it. Our problem? We are an up-and-coming studio and our small team does not have enough time to diligently post content updates!

That’s where we need your help. We are looking for an excited creative mind with a passion for gaming who can help us take the game and make it pop on social channels.

This is a contract position with compensation commensurate with experience. This is a remote position (although if you are in the NYC area you are welcome to our Brooklyn office).

Duties include:

  • Doing self-guided work to write, capture, film, and edit content for TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other online platforms.
  • Brainstorming content concepts, trying them out, and evaluating to find what works best
  • Publicly representing the company in a fun and non-vulgar way
  • Pitching game scenarios, features, and visuals to our talented team that our online audience will love

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience growing an account on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Twitch, or YouTube
  • Is able to speak knowledgeably about what kinds of content does well with gamers on different social platforms
  • Demonstrates fluency with video and image editing tools

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience with game development tools like Unreal Engine
  • Have worked professionally in the games industry
  • Love frogs and/or robots

To be clear: we are okay with this being your first job in games, so long as you have proven successes with other online projects. We also encourage you to apply if your background is typically underrepresented or excluded within the games industry.

We are aiming to fill this as a part-time (10-15 hours a week) position. However, if you are also interested in filling the role of community manager or expanding your marketing role beyond social content creation, we would love to chat about taking this full time.

How to apply

Please send an email with your resume/portfolio to hello@movingpieces.io.

Video games are a team effort. People from underrepresented and excluded backgrounds in the games industry are encouraged to apply.

About Our Games

Simultaneously control a sword-wielding robot and a gunslinging space frog in Shoulders of Giants, an explosively colourful sci-fi roguelike designed to put your teamwork to the test.

The forces of Entropy are spreading chaos through the stars, corrupting living planets and urging on the heat death of the universe. Led by the psychic Owl, one scrappy team of space survivors are fighting to restore the balance. A mysterious mech! A sharpshooting amphibian! Together they must cut through waves of enemies and restore light and life to the galaxy!

DodoPeak is a classic arcade platformer that creates a nostalgic experience reminiscent of classic arcade games.  Though simple at its core, it adds layers of strategy and exploration to challenge the mind.  With our love for mixing modern design with classic game play, the team is passionately crafting a timeless experience for all ages.
