About the job:

We're seeking a social media and community manager to join our communications team!

You'll be joining a group of passionate people dedicated to making digital tabletop roleplaying games a magical, intuitive and immersive experience.

This role will be working with our head of community and marketing, as well as the wider team, to connect with gaming and TTRPG audiences in an authentic way, promote Multiverse and contribute to growing a community founded on inclusion, kindness and creativity.

We don't expect you to be a TTRPG expert, but do expect you to have played or be playing TTRPGs to be able to participate in talking about the hobby authentically.

Your day-to-day will be to create content for and execute campaign plans on our current chosen social media platforms, being a playful and inclusive voice. Engaging with and expanding our audience, identifying and taking opportunities to amplify insightful content and resources — particularly those from underrepresented groups.

This is currently a part-time contract estimated at 20 hours per week, but may be subject to change as we ramp up activities. Minimum hourly rate is $25 USD per hour, but negotiable dependent on skills and experience.

Ideal candidate:

  • Playful at heart. You love playing and want to help other people play; video games, TTRPGs, board games, puzzles, escape rooms, LARP — everything counts!
  • A strong understanding of what it takes to successfully grow and engage online communities, and be able to demonstrate it with examples of past work.
  • Sharp-witted and a sharper set of written, verbal and personal communication skills to match.
  • Up-to-speed on trends and best practices for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • At home in Discord and confident with basic usage of bots, bonus points for a deeper understanding of things like Discohook, MEE6 and SESH.
  • Gets Multiverse's voice and values, and can embrace it in everything that you post or publish.
  • Familiar with image creation and manipulation tools (Adobe CC or similar), bonus points for knowledge of Figma and/or Aseprite.
  • Super strong GIF game, creation and selection.
  • Quick to learn and a willingness to try new things, like experiment with new social platforms.
  • Able to move fast, experiment boldly, and get stuff done. Multiverse is a fast-growing startup and being able to tackle ambiguous problems and make quick decisions is a must.
  • Anywhere in a time zone between PST-EST. We've found that large time zone differences can be tough in a small team.

  • Experience with live streaming and video editing.
  • Knowledge of audio editing and podcasting.
  • Enjoys a good pun or play on words.
  • Existing links to the TTRPG industry.

For this role, provide answers to the following along with your resume and a cover letter:

  1. Links to social media accounts or campaigns you contributed to. This doesn't have to be specific to gaming or TTRPGs, can be college or volunteer work.
  2. What is a current discussion, debate, topic or conversation in the TTRPG world you think Multiverse could contribute to meaningfully?
  3. Name someone in the TTRPG world who's work you admire.
  4. What's your favorite TTRPG system or setting and why?
  5. What's one thing (program, practice, bot, layout, anything) you've seen in a Discord server that you thought was amazing?
  6. We're growing an inclusive community around our product and that can sometimes bring conflicting views to the fore — can you tell us your thought process behind dealing with potential conflict between community members?

Our Vision:

As a team we have two main goals.

1) Grow the number of people who play tabletop RPGs

We think tabletop roleplaying games can be one of the most fun things in the world, but they're just so hard to get into and maintain. We want to make tabletop games much easier by turning them from something you play in your head to something you play like a video game, online and with your friends. We think 10x more people could be playing tabletop games if only they were a bit more modern.

2) Enable people to make a living making tabletop games

That said, there's no end to the creativity and imagination of people who make tabletop games and content. We think that if we 10x the number of people playing ttrpgs, creators should be the first to benefit.

Multiverse is built from day-one to have a marketplace where creators can make and sell games, characters, art, stories and more. We want people to be earning a living making content on Multiverse.

Our Culture:

Our goal is not only to build a totally new kind of platform, but also a new kind of game company. We're fortunate to be well-funded and backed by some of the best investors in the industry, who have funded (or founded!) companies like Twitch, TSM, Oculus and PubG. We will continue to build a diverse team, and give them incredibly opportunities, room to grow, and strong support. We want to be the best job any of us have ever had. That means:

  • We're fully remote! Most of our team is based in the US, and split between PST and EST time zones, we're looking for someone close to those timezones, but other than that you can be anywhere!
  • Diversity & inclusion is a core part of our mission & you'll see that reflected in our team.
  • We don't believe in crunch. We set ambitious goals but always leave ourselves wiggle room. We believe in making space for vulnerability and taking care of the team first.
  • We make time to get to know each other & play games together.
  • Our benefits are comprehensive & really strong.
  • Compensation will be competitive.
