Must-haves

โญ Positive attitude, engaged work ethic, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

โญ Be excited and curious about the industry. Marketing is an ever changing discipline, and it is even faster in games. We want someone who seeks out new knowledge, revels in the challenge and will spearhead new approaches.

โญ Be creative. Not all campaigns will go to plan and some games require more creative approaches than others, so we need someone who can pivot and suggest new ideas and solutions.

โญ A track record of bringing products to market with strong marketing results.

โญ Highly organised, with experience in using project management tools (we use Asana, G Suite and Slack primarily).

โญ Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

What will make you stand out

  • Experience of working with a wide selection of games. Variety is the spice of life and we never know what our clients will throw our way. Knowledge and appreciation for a wide range of games is very important to us.
  • A large personal network within games will allow you to do your job more easily, and create opportunities for the projects we work on.
  • A desire to experiment and put your stamp on the campaigns we run. We don't take a cookie cutter approach; each approach is as unique as the game.
  • A demonstrable passion for the games industry and improving it.
  • Although we as a team play a lot of games, you in no-way need to be a โ€œhardcoreโ€ gamer to be great at this role.

F.A.Q

Q. I have a notice period. When would we need someone to start?

A. The start date is flexible but we have some great projects that we'll need help with soon so we'd rather not wait more than a month or two to get someone in.

Q. Once the COVID situation improves, will you want the team to be office based?

A. No, we all like the flexibility of working remotely so that is unlikely to change. The whole team is currently remote (Glasgow, Essex, London, Brighton).

Q. Is this a contractor role? Will I need to register as a freelancer with HMRC?

A. For UK candidates this will be a PAYE salaried position. For international applicants this will be a contracted role.

More about us!

Neonhive is boutique PR & Marketing agency who specialise in videogames. Everyone on the team has been in the industry for some time with experience in AAA game publishing, indie game publishing and events.

At Neonhive we believe that by offering friendly, accessible and transparent marketing support, we can create meaningful relationships between the developers and their audiences, and ultimately make those games more profitable. Our goal is to educate the developers we work with to give them a better understanding of marketing, and empower them to create more sustainable and successful titles for years to come.

The core team is small but mighty, with just three of us, but we collaborate regularly with freelancers and other agencies. As a group we're passionate about improving the industry and you'll often see us sharing and taking part in initiatives in the industry designed to do just that. For example: Korina is currently part of the very excellent Limit Break Mentoring programme and Geo is an ambassador for Safe In Our World, the games industry mental health charity.

We're also big nerds. Matt and Geo are currently obsessed with skateboards (I wonder what game kicked that off?) and Korina breeds insects in her spare time (yes really).
