The role of Games QA is to ensure the quality assurance of the product by playing the game in as many ways and situations as possible. The goal is to ultimately to break the game so that issues can be highlighted and fixed with each iterative build. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Writing test plans.
  • Comparing new versions of the game and replicate previous bugs to see if they have been fixed.
  • Playing the game using different settings, options and play styles.
  • Checking for typos, spelling mistakes and grammar.
  • Reporting errors and using bug tracking software.
  • Attending necessary meetings to discuss findings.

Skills learnt during this role would include knowledge of bug reporting workflows, working with a fully remote development team, communicating with a varied and diverse team covering various game development disciplines and lastly an overall understanding of the game development cycle, milestones and terminology.

Qualifications

  • You have excellent analytical, problem identification and solving skills.
  • Be approachable and have a keenness to help others in QA and other departments.
  • Very active team player with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experienced games player with the ability to familiarise with gameplay elements rapidly.
  • Familiarity with web-based productivity and communication tools such as Google Workspace and Slack.

Perpetual Games is a fully remote studio and so possessing a good quality internet connection and home workstation is desirable.

About Us

Perpetual Games is a brand new indie game studio based in the UK. Our team have been hard at work for the last 9 months building a world and a vision for our first game, Elegos. Our aim is to create a good and honest game that is built with its community in mind. Not only do we want to build a game that is, of course, fun to play but also fun to play with, by encouraging modding from day one.

Elegos is a first-person immersive RPG where every action matters. It is being built using the Unity game engine with a core focus on being easily and highly moddable… (more details on their way!).

The game is set in an alternate history approximately 330 BCE during the time of Alexander the Great. Our version of this timeline exists in a world largely populated by intelligent mythological creatures, known as Mytha.

The player inhabits a world where discrimination and inequality are rife and will need to navigate a complex world of divisive politics and uncover a blood-stained past. How they do so is entirely up to them.
