As a Technical Artist, you will effectively collaborate with a wide range of disciplines such as product design, engineers, producers, product managers, and art direction to ideate and build assets to define our CrimeTrip experiences.

As an experienced technical artist, you will be responsible for researching and selecting the technical means needed to express the creative vision of the project while respecting the overall art direction. Your work in Houdini will serve as a bridge between tech and art.

Prologue places a strong emphasis on a breath-first development approach in all fields, using data-driven development, ECS and machine learning to create the scalable systems capable of powering high quality sandbox worlds. We believe in iterative development, building for flexibility and adaptability from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Using Houdini and other tools to create procedural generated environments.
  • Producing high quality, vibrant, diverse and appealing natural environments.
  • Automating your work to allow producing many variants without the need for manual changes in code / scripting.
  • Integrating external biome definitions, labels and other data.
  • Collaborating with Research in a fully data-driven pipeline.
  • Helping with the integration of Machine Learning solutions.
  • Assisting in making improvements for quality and stability.
  • Designing and implementing with configurability without refactoring in mind.
  • Implementing pipelines that always safeguard flexibility and robustness.
  • Refactoring existing Houdini scripts to adhere to all the above.
  • Assisting artists with asset creation adhering to the pipeline specification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Highly motivated to work with new and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent Houdini skills for environment generation.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a similar role within the game development industry.
  • Understanding of lighting, color, shading, and photography techniques
  • Experience writing shader code or utilize tools like Amplify or Shader Graph
  • Experience working across a wide variety of lighting methods, including HDR, IBL, pre-baked, and dynamic lighting
  • Experience working across styles (graphic, realistic)
  • Experience with game profiling and optimization techniques in a real-time rendering environment
  • Experience shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints, such as complex mobile or 3D applications or games
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to create technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of real-time graphics pipeline concepts
  • Experience with Unity and/or Unreal
  • Virtual reality experience (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, Oculus, etc.)

Vacations

The Employee will be entitled to 2 weeks (10 days of paid vacation) for the first year. As another benefit, the Employee will receive Four (4) paid sick days (two more than the days offered by the Canadian government). At the end of the year, if a sick day balance is available, the Employee can then convert it into vacation or salary, at the discretion of the Employee. Prologue closes its operations for the December holiday season, these days off will be communicated to the Employee in advance and will not be taken into account in the calculation of days of annual vacation holiday.
