Prosper is a robotics company building low cost robots which help you with cooking or cleaning in the home, based in London. The robots are partially automated and partially controlled by people living in countries with lower average salaries.
As a side project, we're building a 2D web video game. The character interacts with a world where these kinds of teleoperated robots are increasingly common. We want the player to consider the implications of this technology, moving beyond simplistic views and engaging more deeply with its human impact, both the good and the bad. We want to avoid providing answers, and instead focus on asking questions. It should also be fun.😀
We're looking for a remote developer who can take ownership over implementing the entire game, working closely with our producer, script writer, and artists. This is a part time contractor role, but could also be a full time contractor role for the right person.
The ideal candidate would be able to implement a working demo of the core aspects of the game within 2 weeks: a dialogue system, walking around with obstacles, interacting with objects and characters, and a basic inventory system. We're not opinionated about which game engine or game builder you use, as long as the game can run on a modern mobile web browser and a modern desktop web browser, and has a decent level of polish.
It's OK if you have a full time job and don't have consistent availability for a part time second role. It's also OK if you don't have professional experience developing games, as long as you can convince us that you'd be able to build this game with a decent level of polish in a reasonable amount of time.
The Application Process
After filling in this form, if we'd like to move forward, we'll schedule a short 30 minute call. If we like how the call went, we'd want to work with you on a 1-2 week paid trial to start off with and see if it's a mutual fit. This makes it easier for us to take bets on candidates others may pass on -- so if that sounds like you, definitely apply! 😀
Thanks for reading, and wishing you a happy day today. 😀
