We’re Qloud Games, an Australian-based indie studio with remote team members hailing from around the world. We’re developing Loftia, and we’re looking for a Gameplay & Systems Engineer (Unreal Engine) to join our growing studio.

Loftia is a cozy take on the MMO genre, where players farm, build, and contribute to the growth of a sustainable, solarpunk world. The game mixes the chill, relaxing atmosphere of existing titles such as Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, with the social aspects of a massively multiplayer game. Our vision is to provide a space where players can discover a sense of belonging, work together with others in the community to build and grow a sustainable world, and inspire hope for the future.

For more information, check out our recent Kickstarter campaign.

If you’re excited by the prospect of building gameplay systems and cozy, shared worlds loved by massive audiences, then we would absolutely love to hear from you!

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Build out important gameplay systems and features in a complex networked multiplayer game
  • Act as a generalist, contributing code across many areas of the game – from core gameplay, to AI, user interface, database persistence and more.
  • Fix bugs and improve performance of the game as issues arise
  • Collaborate with the engineering team, reviewing other engineers’ code and assisting with continued revision of the team’s processes & best practices

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has relevant experience with Unreal Engine (we are on 5.3) and Unreal C++
  • A strong understanding of how to design and implement networked game features
  • Flourishes in a startup environment, where you can make a big personal impact. Has a keen aptitude for striking the right balance between maintaining coding standards and best practices, and completing tasks in an efficient, practical manner

Employment details

  • Form of employment: Full-time contract, with potential to transform into a permanent position
  • Employment location: Fully remote (bonus if Australian resident)
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Rate: US$25-$35 per hour depending on experience

How to apply

Send us an email with your resume and portfolio attached – we’re looking forward to hearing from you!
