As the Art Director you’ll guide the team in creating a rich, cinematic, and stylized RPG world players will immerse themselves in. You are fundamental to a game’s development: a member of the core team, the connection between the creative vision and the artists, the voice of the art team, and a thought leader.
You will be responsible for helping define and execute on the 2.5D visual look and feel of our title Threads of Time, merging immersive 3D environments with charming 2D characters. You motivate, inspire, and support the team to transform concepts to reality. You have the talent and expertise to help the teams produce visual content that is aligned with the creative vision and of the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities
Work with Creative Directors to define and execute on the stylized, 2.5D visual look and feel of Threads of Time
Collaborate with team to compose and create mesmerizing, cinematic moments in the game
Willing to go hands-on in the engine to create or adjust scenes for maximum storytelling impact
Work with Producer to establish the art production pipeline and manage the full cycle art production process
Provide concise feedback for concept art, 3D models, textures, effects, scenes and more produced by the art team
Create and update the project’s art style guide, ensuring that the art team’s style remains consistent and cohesive
Collaborate with Production in the creation and overall management of the art schedule and resource plans
Work with technical artists, programmers and game designers to ensure all disciplines cohesively come together to visually tell Threads of Time’s story
Collaborate with external vendors to produce art assets efficiently and at a high-quality bar
Qualifications
Shipped a minimum of 1+ video games as an Art Director or art leadership position
At least 5 years of creative leadership experience
Mastery of creating or directing stylized 3D environments
Knowledge of Photoshop and 3D software such as Maya, 3DS Max, and Substance Painter/Designer
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems efficiently
Can take direction from Creative Directors on implementing creative vision
Willing to help the art team with 3D modeling and texturing, lighting, scene setup and more, depending on the skill set of the Art Director
A love of JRPGs
Pluses
Experience in Unreal Engine
Passion for cinematography and/or photography
Love of pixel art
Resident of Ontario, Canada or willing to move here
Compensation
$110,000.00 - $140,000.00
