Our mission is to build and maintain highly engaged communities within our games and as the Community Manager for our JRPG Threads of Time, you will be a key contributor to our success. You will be responsible for building a strong relationship with our fans, sharing development progress, gathering feedback and growing our community through our social channels.

The Community Manager is a creative and passionate gamer, comfortable with online communities and social media, has excellent communication skills, and with the ability to cultivate a safe and welcoming community. Everyday duties will revolve around growing the player community, engaging with influencers, managing social media and leading multi-channel community engagement and content strategies.

You’ll be working on Threads of Time, a 2.5D JRPG inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy where you get to travel from the pre-historic era to the end of time!

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and project management for the community and social media strategies
  • Ensure the production of community assets - in collaboration with the development teams - such as videos, articles, livestreams, interviews, etc
  • Engage directly with fans on social media, keeping them motivated and engaged daily
  • Foster and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for a game community
  • Post, update, monitor, and engage with forums on multiple platforms, including emails, Steam, Discord, Reddit, Twitter, TikTok, and Imgur, amongst others
  • Recruit, manage, and support a team of Discord volunteer moderators
  • Utilize platform and audience data to continually optimize how we can successfully engage our community
  • Stay up to date on the latest social media/Discord trends, features, and topics of conversation
  • Conduct surveys, research, and feedback from the community on issues and trends affecting the player experience
  • Manage relationships with journalists, content creators, influencers and key stakeholders
  • Create external facing communications and press releases
  • Oversee regular media relations activities including media and influencer outreach, collection and analysis of press coverage
  • Maintain a positive community presence and reputation

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience managing online communities and developing strategic plans in the video game industry
  • A love of JRPGs
  • Great communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in social media platforms (Discord, Reddit, Twitter, TikTok,etc.)
  • Energized by being an official spokesperson, enjoy public speaking, and are a natural storyteller
  • Proficiency with email marketing tools (e.g. Aweber) and social media scheduling tools
  • Writing skills: you need to have a passion and flair for chatting with community members, as well as writing professionally to the press, influencers, and in social media
  • A high level of maturity, a strong work ethic and a professional attitude
  • Worked on at least one game launch in a Community Manager capacity

Pluses

  • Experience with digital asset creation (video, photo, podcasts, etc.)
  • Ability to conduct presentations and appear in front of the camera
  • Resident of Ontario, Canada or willing to move here
