Robot Entertainment is an independent game studio founded in 2009, best known for creating the Orcs Must Die! franchise. We strive to create a supportive environment where everyone can make an impact on our projects. As a member of the Robot character art team you’ll work collaboratively with Designers, Programmers and other Artists to create a variety of high-quality character art assets.

We’re looking for an experienced Character Artist to work on an unannounced project inspired by classic action JRPGs, set in a vibrant, stylized world. Your portfolio will showcase a diverse selection of game-ready characters and display a strong understanding of foundational art skills like anatomy, proportion, and color usage. If you’re an artist with a strong sense of aesthetics who gets excited about developing new styles, workflows, and enjoys voicing your creative thoughts and ideas this could be a good fit!


  • Create high poly sculpts and low poly in-game character models.
  • Create high quality stylized materials.
  • Assist in developing and planning the character art pipeline.
  • Collaborate with other departments like design, engineering, tech art, and animation to make sure your work fits gameplay needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the team and help to mentor other artists.

The Ideal Candidate…

  • Has at least 5 years of experience as a character artist for games.
  • Is highly proficient in software packages including 3ds Max/Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
  • Has professional experience working in Unreal 4, or other modern game engines.
  • Takes a proactive approach to their work and has strong communication skills.
  • Great oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoys working throughout different phases of a project from prototype through production.

  • Playing and enjoying a variety of different games.
  • Contributing to shipping multiple game titles.
  • Some experience with outsourcing.

We’re headquartered in Plano, TX just North of Dallas. The team transitioned to working from home in 2020 and this role is open to anyone interested in working remotely in the continental United States, or those interested in relocating the DFW area.
