Create the vision for how Second Dinner builds, deploys, and operates technology by collaborating with the Director of Engineering
Orchestrate how development, QA, and reliability teams intersect and lead them to operate a sustainable and enjoyable DevOps workflow
Drive technical development of reliable, scalable, and cost effective backend platform and infrastructure by working directly with talented engineers
Manage key relationships with technology and infrastructure partners who are critical to development and operation of the game - including vital relationship with the publisher’s central technology team
Technical understanding and operational experience to effectively communicate with technical stakeholders and synthesize a vision the team can rally around
Define and articulate the bridge between technology and end-customer value, and continue evolving it
Leadership without authority that can build consensus among diverse stakeholders towards a shared set of goals and priorities
Deep analytical problem solving mindset that yields effective and creative solutions to technical and operational challenges
Development planning skills that can balance scope, resources, time to market, and sustainability
Expert knowledge in tools and best practices of DevOps - including branching & release management strategy, QA integration, incident management, etc.
Ability to stay cool under pressure and lead the team in positive and optimistic ways
Game development experience is NOT required
Experience working with AWS technologies (or similar cloud/hybrid cloud systems)
Familiarity with Unity (or other contemporary game engine)
Experience partnering with data and analytics functions in both technical and business aspects
Mobile software service development and operations experience
Experience working with technical partners in different countries & time zones
Fluency in Mandarin

We are funded. Pretty darn well funded. Our goal was to get enough so that we could staff up optimally and have the runway to ship our game when it’s ready, and not a moment before. And we got it. As you might imagine, this means a lot of great things!

While we always want to be efficient and responsible with our spending, we don’t need to be penny wise and pound foolish. We can do the right thing for the long term success of the company, the game, and our teammates.

It’s a startup. Despite all our many hedges against risk, we’re still a small company early in its lifetime. And that means there will be more risk and variance in some ways compared to a bigger, longer-established company.
We’re small, and we need to be scrappy. And we intend to stay small and scrappy. You’ll likely end up jumping on problems you’ve never faced before, and you’ll need to be comfortable with--nay, exhilarated!--by that.
Umm… there must be more, but that’s all that comes to mind at the moment. It’s pretty awesome here.
