We are looking for a Systems Programmer to help engineer the technical standards and structure of a new game development project in Unreal Engine. Under the supervision of the director and in concert with other senior technical staff, you will shepherd the programming team to build architecture, design data-driven gameplay systems, and craft development tools for a new immersive 3D game.

This position may be remote. However, an ideal long-term candidate would be open to considering joining us at our office in beautiful Colorado once COVID-19 conditions improve. Competitive relocation assistance and additional in-office benefits are available.

Role Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce the game’s technical goals and processes in alignment with the vision of the project director
  • Supervise code and personnel across a small team of developers of multiple disciplines within the spectrum of game programming and technology
  • Work with your programming staff to ensure development deadlines are met while achieving the highest work quality possible
  • Coordinate with the producer and other team leaders to set milestone goals and run an efficient production pipeline

Your Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Unreal Engine and C++ on a commercially shipped game
  • Strong low-level understanding of Unreal Engine architecture
  • Ability to adapt programming techniques and standards to the fluid needs of a specific project
  • Experience with version control for game development (ideally, Perforce)
  • Thorough understanding of—and comfort with—longer game development pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and project management tools

Bonus Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing a team of multiple developers
  • Ability to understand and integrate business objectives and philosophies and synthesize them into the game’s technical vision
  • Experience coordinating with contractors and other outsourced services
  • Passion for games and the video games industry
