We’re looking for an Art Director to join our core creative and managerial team, for some new upcoming projects. You will be responsible for creating concept art, diagrams, and mood boards to communicate art direction and ideas, helping define and manage an art pipeline with both 3D and 2D art in Unity, and directing and managing a small art team. You will also be working with the core creative team to help define the creative vision for our games!

We’re looking for someone with great attention to detail and communication skills, who is creative and self-motivated.

Silverstring has had the pleasure of creating and consulting on amazing and award-winning games, and we want to continue to deliver exceptional artistic and narrative experiences. We are a queer-led and feminist studio that values diversity, and are particularly excited to see applications from women, trans, gnc and non-binary folks, and people of colour.

This is a fully remote, full-time salaried position starting at $65,000-$70,000. Our work week is 30 hours, time is flexible, and we offer extensive health benefits and paid vacation. Applicants must reside in Canada (Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or open work visa holders with a term of at least 2 years), and must provide their own workstation/equipment. The role will begin in January 2022 and last at least 1 year.

You must have:

  • An interest in stories, games, and creative interactive digital media
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently communicate complex concepts visually using sketches, mood boards, and diagrams
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience working at a game studio using the Unity engine, in both prototyping and production phases
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excitement to be a team leader and core creative visionary

You may also have:

  • Art direction or management experience
  • Experience as a concept artist or character designer
  • Proficiency in Unity
  • Production-ready 2D art
  • Experience with 3D art and animation pipelines using Blender
  • Desire to challenge colonial, patriarchal, and sexual hegemonies

If even a few of these sound like you, please get in touch! We encourage all applicants who are interested to apply.
