Full Time

Space Rat Studios is an agile game development startup creating our Triple-I flagship game. As a company we value storytelling, curiosity, and passion - a combination we believe yields originality and fun.

We are seeking a Senior Game Engineer to join a team developing an ambitious new project with a patented mechanic. You will have a large say in the direction of the game. Our prototype is already built, and we are looking to continue development towards the vertical slice.

This is a great role for a fast problem solver who approaches challenges from a place of “everything is possible” to find innovative solutions. You will need to implement designs efficiently while pushing for quality as you work on new features and improve existing features.

If you want to hit the ground running and grow this game and its features to maturity, then join this motivated and agile team of disruptors.

  • Assess challenges, craft a scalable architecture, own the technical design, and run with implementation.
  • Translate design specifications into functional game mechanics.
  • Think about the game from a player perspective and not your own. You offer ways to improve a design while also simplifying implementation.
  • Help maintain code quality, cleanliness & organization.
  • Build an efficient, scalable, and flexible system and have a willingness to use other languages when required to solve problems effectively.

  • 4+ years experience programming games and solving impactful technical challenges.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Math.
  • Exceptional Physics Simulation Experience
  • A love for game design and solid knowledge of PC & Console development.
  • Unity and/or Unreal Engine experience, C#, C++, Python
  • Demonstrated ability to write efficient, readable, and reliable code.
  • Multiplayer Networked Game Experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Git
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
