sunset visitor 斜陽過客 is a new independent studio based in Vancouver, Canada. We are dedicated to creating narrative-focused games that explore diverse and under-represented stories through the lens of speculative fiction.

As a team, we have a decade of experience in games development, experimental theatre, dance, music, visual arts, and new media. We are directors, writers, dancers, animators, and programmers currently working on our debut game, 1000xRESIST!.

We are looking for a part-time Community Manager to help us gain visibility, establishing several new social media accounts and helping us grow our community online.  

As Community Manager, you would be responsible for building the foundations of our social media presence and cultivating a community around our studio and game. You should be an active indie gamer, and be able to speak knowledgeably about the industry, the indie gaming sphere, and what types of content resonates with indie gamers. You should have a high level of understanding of platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, and be adept in the tools required to create fun digital assets to post. You should be comfortable writing attention-grabbing, funny, and thoughtful copy in English that can adapt across platforms.

Salary:

• $2,000 CAD/month flat rate, with the expectation of 20 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the team to plan and execute a content calendar of high quality and fun written, image, and video content to raise our studio and game awareness, drive engagement, and foster community.
• Grow our community on various social media and community channels such as Discord, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok through content creation and engagement.
• Keep up to date on the latest industry, social media, and visual trends, and the latest platforms and technologies to identify opportunities for new and unique social engagement.
• Work with our publisher ahead of our game’s release to align our in-studio community engagement with their marketing timelines and announcements.

Requirements:

• Proven experience growing accounts on Discord, Twitter, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms. You must have a high level of understanding of these platforms and the video and image editing tools required to create effective content for them.
• Proven experience managing online communities.
• Demonstrable experience in digital asset creation and producing content from idea to publishing, such as TikToks, Reels, Shorts, gifs, etc.
• Deep knowledge of video games, the industry, and video game marketing content.

Skills:

• Motivation for keeping up with the latest industry, social media, and visual trends.
• Knowledgeable on what social media content resonates with gamers.
• Fluent in writing and speaking in English.
• Comfort writing concise and attention-grabbing social media copy suitable for a variety of communities.
• Capable of working independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
• Time management: the ability to post, monitor, and outreach effectively according to schedule.
• Strong aptitude for technology and ability/desire to learn new software.

Bonus Experience:

• Video game studio / community manager experience.
• Experience in a social media management position, communications sector, marketing, or relevant experience.
• Pre-established networks within the online video game community, such as connections with Twitch streamers, etc.

• This position can be done remotely, but you must be able to have reasonable crossover hours with the working hours of both sunset visitor 斜陽過客 in Pacific Standard Time, and our publisher in Australian Eastern Standard Time.
