Synthesis is an online enrichment program that aims to cultivate a generation of supercollaborators: individuals with the capability to solve the most challenging problems of our civilization…together. We offer students ages 8-14 the regular opportunity to practice what schools prevent: making consequential decisions, growing through reflection and course corrections, collaborating intensely with peers from around the world, and connecting powerful concepts with real-life application. School is largely a static and single-player experience, while the world demands a dynamic and extensively team-based approach. Consequently, we create team thinking games that are original, unapologetically complex, and designed to surface many kinds of collaboration – only playable within Synthesis.

We are looking for an experienced UX/UI designer with the ability to bring this platform to its full potential and refine every aspect of the Synthesis experience. In this role, you will work within a cross-functional team to design the next phase of Synthesis and develop the information architecture, user experience, and interfaces that will set the standard of quality across every tool and touchpoint.

We are teaching the world’s most valuable skill: the ability to solve complex problems with a team. Our goal is to make an education experience so great that even billionaires couldn’t buy anything better for their kids, and then make that affordable for as many people as possible. Join us.

As a Senior UX/UI Designer working within the various Synthesis platform teams, you will:

  • Concept, plan, and design every element of the customer experience for kids 8-14, including: game lobbies, matchmaking, content libraries, onboarding flows, profile data visualization, post-game reports, and more.
  • Lead the user research, IA, and visual design of internal tools that enable teachers.
  • Work daily with engineering teams to implement designs with consistent and ambitious quality—one seamless, premium experience.
  • Concept and create clickthrough prototypes for new features and improvements.
  • Communicate clearly, and articulate the product/feature vision across the company

  • A professional portfolio with examples of past commercial work and/or case studies. Thoughtful, professional quality is the primary criterion. Hence, a portfolio link is required below.
  • 5+ years experience in gaming, entertainment, or consumer technology products.
  • Broad UX skills spanning interaction design, user research, information architecture, visual design, UI animation, etc.
  • A personal interest in video games.

Education is about the future: how do we make the future better than the present, how do we preserve the advances we have made so far, and how do we continue to expand the frontiers of human knowledge and capability?

The highest leverage tactic is to focus on childhood education. That’s what we’re doing at Synthesis. Specifically, our mission is to cultivate a generation of supercollaborators—people who can work together effectively to take on humanity’s most complex and vexing challenges.

We’re looking for people with exceptional intelligence, work ethic, and integrity to join us.
