☀️ Solarpunk 4X Strategy Game

🏡 Small Indie Game Studio

🕑 Full Time with Flexible Hours

💰 Salaried Position

❤️ Holistic Approach to Benefits

🌎 Permanently Remote

🎮 Experience Level: Mid to Senior

Project

We are building a turn-based, Solarpunk-inspired 4X strategy game with a fresh take on the traditional formula, including the incorporation of city-building gameplay, built on Unreal Engine 5.

This is a game about defining bold, bright futures for humanity on a new world after forced exodus from Earth. This comes in the wake of man-made environmental cataclysm, born from humanity's failure to create a sustainable and just society on our home world.

Themes of environmentalism and social / economic justice (particularly race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, and political agency) are the foundation for the game's narrative and mechanics. We're challenging the genre's historically celebrated themes of colonization and exploitation with a story-rich experience aimed at the PC/Steam/Epic Games ecosystem.

Position

We’re seeking an Operations Manager to join our team and handle the administrative and HR tasks necessary to keep the company and team running from a business perspective.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, outgoing, and fun-loving person to join our team and work with our Operations Lead in the core tasks that it takes to run an indie game studio day-by-day. We need someone who loves paperwork, is no stranger to organization, is comfortable navigating bureaucracy, and happy to interact with folks both inside and outside of our studio. In this role, you’ll take on tasks like assisting with bookkeeping, hiring/onboarding/offboarding, benefits management, coordinating tax filings, organizing fun team events, and more.

This role comes with the opportunity to grow—it’s our hope that, as you become familiar with the company and its operation, you’ll eventually move into the role of Operations Lead, which would present the opportunity to take a more active and deeper role in the business development of the company.

In this company, it is critical to have knowledge about the many ways axes of oppression function systemically. This is important both in interacting with the team and player community, and in interfacing with the game's content and structure. We cultivate an environment where every member of the team, regardless of position, is held accountable to demonstrate and do the ongoing work necessary in treating each other’s diverse identities with awareness and respect.

This role reports directly to Jessica, our current Operations Lead.

Compensation & Benefits

🕑 Full Time with Flexible Hours We’ll work with you to craft a schedule that meets your needs, between 30 - 40 hours per week.

💰 Security of a Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 USD per year Pay will be commensurate with experience, skill level, and hours.

In addition, we have a 401(k) plan, flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability coverage, professional development allowances, and workstation funds (and are working on equity sharing to roll out soon!).

🌍 Permanently Remote Work from anywhere, as long as you can be available during the company’s core co-working hours.

📆 Company’s Core Co-Working Hours: Monday - Friday: 10am - 2pm PST // 17:00 - 21:00 UTC
