About the Role 

As a Software Development Test Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring an outstanding quality product that uses the Unity engine and our RESTful set of services work in concert to deliver our multi-platform musical creativity experience. You will be a key part of the team that delivers high-performing, optimized client-side applications that result in new engine features, new game features, and happy users.

This position is highly collaborative and requires working in lockstep with designers, artists, developers, and leadership. A successful candidate will have an established background with strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and desire to problem solve and achieve results.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with team to design, build, deploy and maintain high quality testing processes for day to day development cycles as well as milestone release builds
  • Work closely with the other developers to analyze code and bugs to determine their source and create improvements and tests to ensure the bug does not reoccur
  • Be an advocate for players and developers: Insist on the highest standards and drive to operational excellence
  • Share insights, solutions and best practices within the team
  • Estimate tasks and manage time effectively
  • VR/Oculus experience is a bonus


  • Previous experience in a quality assurance or software testing roles
  • Computer science or game development educational degree or equivalent work experience
  • Passion for music or music making
  • Ability to break down large problems and to prioritize work
  • Ability to work with Unity based applications
  • Strong communication skills, both in person and via digital means with the ability to work in a team environment

Bonus Requirements

  • Experience developing automated testing for Unity based applications
  • Development experience with C# or Unity 
  • Experience with testing/qa of web based technologies such as React, Express, AWS and RESTful APIs

Bonus Responsibilities

  • Build automations and tests to validate both Unity-based applications, across desktop, mobile and web, and Cloud-based services
  • Configure test automation networks, and execute and analyze stress, stability and performance tests of the ToneStone platform
  • Implement metrics, analyze test data and results to identify patterns, report on risk status to development partners and influence product quality
