Can you remember the joy of learning how to build new things as a child? The curiosity that drove you to tinker with your first computer? Did you ever wish your education felt more like a game, transporting you in a world of exploration, discovery and play? We definitely did, and that’s why we founded UMA.
UMA is an early-stage, London based, startup on a mission to create entertainment experiences that are intentional about what they teach kids. Today we are building a Multiplayer Thinky Sandbox game where kids develop mathematical reasoning and creative problem solving skills. Think of a Minecraft meets Factorio meets Scratch. We are not making a “traditional” educational game, we are re-imagining the future of games and learning - Jonathan Blow said it better than we ever could.
It’s a very exciting time to join UMA; working with mathematicians, pedagogues and designers, we are defining the game’s core mechanics and systems. Every day, we explore innovative gameplay ideas and shape the future of learning. To achieve this ambitious mission, we are looking for an exceptionally talented and thoughtful game developer to join our journey.
In this position you will have a leading role in the development of our game’s system and mechanics, from prototyping through to shipping and beyond, while helping us build out our development team.
