Weathered Sweater is a Black-owned interactive media and art studio located in Vermont. We are an award-winning studio that works on a variety of projects across different mediums. Many of our projects fall into the category of games or art for change, but we also work on products for the commercial retail market.

We are looking for a Web/Unity Developer to help support us on a contract basis. This role will begin part-time, but may transition to full-time work in the future. Any applicant should have extensive, demonstrable experience with web development and Unity/C#

Due to our work’s proximity to education, prior experience working within LMS/LRS environments and with SCORM/xAPI is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for working on a team and making products that may be internal Weathered Sweater projects or projects for clients. Duties will include:

  • Designing and implementing features and “levels” solo or alongside a team
  • Creating placeholder assets for prototyping systems or implementing content
  • Writing and maintaining design and programming documentation
  • Being excited about making things of many types, genres, and styles

Requirements and Experience:

  • Proficient with HTML5 web/game development (Node.js, React, Phaser, Firebase, AWS, ect)
  • Experienced with Unity and Unity WebGL (you can confidently design and build a stable game on your own using Unity C#)
  • Good sense of aesthetic (you have proven that you can make sure that things you work on and implement look and feel good)
  • Ability to work with and manage client relationships alongside a producer and other developers
  • Deeply interested in improving the world through media such as games, comics, film, animation, etc
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Git and Source Control

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with xAPI and SCORM
  • Dev ops experience
  • Ability to create shippable quality UI assets in a pinch
  • Critical of capitalism
  • Has hobbies that aren’t just gaming-related

Important Details:

  • Duration: 6+ months
  • Contract Type: Part-time
  • Location: Remote*
  • Compensation: Negotiable

*Though remote, we are mainly looking at candidates that can work in Eastern Time (ET).

Additional Information:

We are a Black-owned studio and would like to push for more diversity in the games industry. If you come from a diverse background, please apply!

  • We have a 32 hour work week culture which means most people who work with us do not exceed 32 hours of work per week on average
  • We strive to eliminate crunch and overwork, so professionalism and strong risk management skills are crucial to success

Response Deadline/Application:

Hoping to hire before August 2021, but we are looking for the right candidate.

Due to the volume of applications, we will respond to you within 2 weeks if we wish to move forward with your application.
