Hey there!

Well Told is an indie game company that focuses on balancing good stories and tight gameplay for cutting-edge platforms and mediums. We are located in Orange County, CA and we’re looking for a 3Cs Gameplay Programmer (Character, Controls, Camera) to join our project.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain an immersive First Person Perspective pawn that captures the feel of our gameplay goals, and integrates tightly with existing game systems.
  • Collaborating and working cohesively with members of different disciplines (Design, Production, Animation, QA, etc.)
  • Write maintainable, shipping quality C++, that can be extended upon, and maintained by the engineering team as a whole.

Requirements

  • Shipped at least one product in Unreal Engine with a first or third-person perspective.
  • B.S. Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience bringing a pawn from the ground up, to a polished and shippable state.
  • Able to take initiative and pay close attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D Math and its use in gameplay systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-organize.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unreal’s animation system.
  • Good command of C++, including refactoring, optimization, debugging, and testing.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Epic’s Gameplay Ability System
  • VR Experience
  • Experience developing for multiple platforms.
  • Interest in game design, and a strong understanding of what makes responsive and intuitive game mechanics
  • Knowledge and experience of modern FPS games.
