Hey there!

Well Told is an indie game company that focuses on balancing good stories and tight gameplay for cutting-edge platforms and mediums. We are working on an unannounced 3D title in Unreal Engine and are seeking a 3D Game Artist. We need some help creating assets for our games, “Game Hub” area.

Job Details

  • Freelance.
  • Remote or in-person (local preferred).
  • Location: Orange County, CA.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Create both 3D sculpts and final low polygon game assets.
  • Create textures using Substance Painter.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4-5.
  • Iterate on game assets with the Art Team.
  • Comfortable working from sketch concepts and taking direction from reference and draw overs.
  • Set dress a space using existing assets
  • Creation of hero assets for a cowboy-themed ‘Home Base’ where the Player starts in Game.

 

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience in game development as an artist specializing in props using Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, Blender, Substance Painter.
  • Understanding of next generation asset creation pipelines and tools.
  • Expertise in hard surface modeling techniques for use in creating complex mechanical objects such as weapons and props.
  • Good eye for composition and balance of detail in placing assets in a space
  • Self-motivation and communication skills.
  • Able to work creatively and flexibly as part of a small group.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers.
  • Understanding of our game’s style and creating work that is consistent with our project.

 

Bonus Points:

  • Have shipped any game title as a 3D artist specializing in environments or props.
  • Comfortable creating materials in Substance Designer.
  • Skill in one or more related disciplines – illustration, animation, visual effects, or technical art.
  • Experience in creating visual designs that support gameplay-oriented goals.
