Well Told is an indie game company that focuses on balancing good stories and tight gameplay for cutting-edge platforms and mediums. We are located in Orange County, CA and we’re looking for full-time folks and freelancers to join our next full-funded project. This unannounced title is made for VR/PC with a focus on narrative, combat, and roguelike gameplay. Hope you like cowboys!

Job Description

  • We require a powerful numbers handler to help us bring satisfying action and growth to our games. You know a thing or two about RPG/rogue-lite progression and combat design
  • Iterate, polish, and balance player progression and experience from concept to implementation in Unreal 4
  • Design, develop, and maintain systems such as items, reward loops, crafting recipes, and more
  • Data entry and management of game database assets
  • Tuning and balance of game data
  • Playing the heck out of the game with us

Individuals with the following background

  • *checks notes* “Know how to make a shooter feel good.”
  • Any VR and or RPG/Rogue Lite experience would be sweet.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of stat curves, player progression systems, and game play loops
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets and formulas
  • Ability to identify, break down, and define core mechanics
  • Solid knowledge of scripting
  • Ability to iterate and implement quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Knowledge of game production pipeline and 3d game engines
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Actively seek feedback to improve work while also providing guidance and feedback to peers
  • Ability to adapt and cope with change as the production of the project demands

*Currently, our studio is operating WFH remote – but full-time positions are preferred to be local to our studio in Orange County in the future. But we are open and will review remote candidates.
