ZA/UM is a video game studio that in 2019 released the award-winning role-playing game Disco Elysium. The studio re-located to the United Kingdom in 2018 and has offices in London and Brighton. Currently, the team is composed of around 30 writers, artists, developers and producers and we are expanding!
The role
We are looking for a multi-skilled Graphic Designer to fill a dynamic role which encompasses work for marketing and merchandising departments but will subsequently evolve to include in-game work for any new ZA/UM titles. The dynamic nature of the role will make it a challenging but a fulfilling experience for those passionate about graphic design and fan engagement. The job can (initially) be done remotely, and it is a full-time position.
While we prefer applicants with a right to work in the UK, candidates without it will still be considered due to the remote nature of the work. However, we do not foresee ourselves sponsoring visas in the short-term.
Responsibilities
- Website design and management
- Ongoing designs for community announcements (incl. storefront banners, messages)
- Merchandise design (incl. postcards, stickers, mugs, t-shirts)
- In-game design (UI element creation)
- Working with the game engine (Unity)
Requirements
Experience
- Prior experience in roles such as graphic designer, visual designer and marketing designer.
- Prior experience in the game industry is preferred.
- A comprehensive work portfolio which documents the high quality of your prior work.
Skills
- Raster based workflows - 2d asset creation into context (based on sketch, render, descripion etc.) Web elements, UI elements and motion, Photography workflows
- Vector based workflows - Formatting, Typography, Iconography, Print design
- Basic 3d knowledge for working with assets, lights, textures, and rendering
- Basic understanding of video workflows capturing, editing, rendering, colours, and motion design for working in the trailer creation pipeline
- Basic engine logic with Unity, Unreal, or future third party
- Art history’ish, semiotics’ish (always a boon)
