Bionic Wombat Games is hiring a Sound Designer for Rogue Maze, an exciting upcoming tower defense project made in Unity. This is a remote, paid, contract-based position, working on a project basis. We are primarily located in NYC.

The game in development is an isometric tile placement game where you build mazes for the enemies to navigate. It leans towards the tower defense genre with unique mechanics and a playful, oddball sense of humor.

We are looking for a sound designer to create and/or source sounds for a wide variety of enemies and special tiles. Enemies include boombox-toting breakdancers, 19th century boxers, and unicorns, while tiles cover everything from honey bee farms to radioactive goop and smelly bathrooms. In addition, a full suite of UI sounds will be required. 

We are placing a heavy emphasis on the sound design part. We are looking for someone who will not simply deliver sounds as requested, but will explore places within the game where sound can be used to highlight important interactions, create an ambient atmosphere, and bring life to the UI, among other polish. 

Requirements:

  • Experience creating original sounds for game titles
  • Comfortable working inside of the Unity editor, configuring files and linking up data
  • Self-driven and able to work with minimal guidance. I want you to tell ME where we should be putting sounds, not the opposite.
  • Highly creative, imaginitive, thinking outside the box, unafraid to try new things
  • Receptive to feedback and iteration

Send your resume and portfolio showcasing your best and most sound work from a gaming project. Include a brief intro about yourself and your relevant experience. Tell me what's in your sound creation kit: software, instruments, objects. Tell me about your experience implementing sounds directly into a Unity project and the details of that process. Add a peculiar fact about yourself for extra points.
