About Deck Nine Games
Deck Nine Games is an independent game developer dedicated to crafting interactive story games that inspire, transform, and entertain players. Our passion is storytelling games.
Our first game, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is loved by fans and has won multiple awards, including Game of Year and was nominated for both a VGA and a BAFTA. The studio is 90+ people and is working on an unannounced story adventure game and is growing additional teams for more projects.
We’re looking for talented and self-motivated people to join us as we aim to rise to the top of the storytelling game studios.
As the crafters of stories that encompass the full breadth of life’s experiences, Deck Nine is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and multicultural team in which people from all walks of life feel inspired to do their best work. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and believe deeply in the creativity and strength built from diversity of race, religion, disability, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, nationality, and the many other qualities that make us different.
Currently, our game is silent. Actually, there is one sound… Hulk yells “HULK SMASH”. When you only have one sound, it is very startling when it plays. In fact, it caused one of our engineers to drop her phone on her face in surprise when she was playing in bed. Please, save us.
We can’t wait for you to make our game sound awesome. What style of music would make it feel modern and fun? How should we think differently about sound effects given we are playing in the Marvel universe? Your expertise is what we need to answer these questions, and to do the work of creating and implementing sounds to bring the game to life. We’re a small crew with big dreams, and we love to welcome new folks to the team. Come join us!
We recommend that you attach your cover letter and resume as one document.
You must be eligible to work in the United States to be considered for this position.
Second Dinner is located in sunny Orange County, CA. We are a small studio that believes in moving fast and giving everyone a feeling of ownership. People who join us will have a massive impact on both the game and the company.
We appreciate companies that can make remote work successful, but we prefer the serendipity and organic collaboration of being co-located in an office. Due to the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, we are temporarily working from home.
Second Dinner is fully funded, so we think we have everything we need to take our first game over the finish line. We offer competitive salaries, benefits, and stock options. It feels like a start-up over here, but without the risk of running out of money before our next milestone.
We are an equal opportunity employer that places high value on diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, disability status, sex (including pregnancy), gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, military status, or veteran status. A diverse team with varied perspectives makes us a better company and will help us make better games. If you can bring something new to the table and expand our point of view, that’s huge upside. Please apply!
