Chimera Entertainment is an independent game development studio based in Germany. We create high-quality games through strong collaboration, clear ownership, and thoughtful production processes.

Our teams combine creative ambition with pragmatic execution. We value people who communicate openly, think in systems, take responsibility for their work, and help the team make better decisions.

To strengthen our development team, we are looking for an Experienced Unity Gameplay Programmer with strong Unity skills, a solid engineering mindset, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to technical and gameplay design.

Your role:

As an Experienced Unity Gameplay Programmer you will work on real-time gameplay and game systems in Unity. You will contribute to the technical foundation of a game shipped for PC and/or console, collaborate closely with game design and art, and help shape robust, maintainable solutions.

This is a senior role, but not necessarily a full lead position. Lead experience is a plus, but the main focus is on strong technical ownership, good communication, pragmatic decision-making, and the ability to work well within an interdisciplinary production team.

We are looking for someone who is more than just a coder: someone who thinks in systems, understands trade-offs, contributes to tech design, and helps the team move forward without becoming dogmatic, while working onsite in our Cebu office and supporting our development team in Munich.

This position is offered on a contractor basis and is planned for an initial project duration of approximately 1–2 years.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain gameplay features and real-time systems in Unity.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and implementation planning.
  • Work closely with game designers, artists, technical artists, and production in a remote setup.
  • Build clean, maintainable, and extensible gameplay systems in Unity.
  • Apply common software patterns where they make sense for the project.
  • Work with Git workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.
  • Help identify technical risks, dependencies, and optimisation needs.
  • Support debugging, profiling, and performance improvements.
  • Work with Unity plugins and tools such as behaviour trees where relevant.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows thoughtfully where they improve productivity, code quality, or iteration speed.
  • Communicate clearly about technical constraints, opportunities, and trade-offs.

Requirements:

  • Strong professional experience with Unity.
  • Solid experience developing real-time gameplay or interactive systems.
  • Strong understanding of common software patterns, such as MVVM, MVP, or similar architectural approaches.
  • Good understanding of maintainable software architecture in a game production context.
  • Experience with Git workflows, including code reviews.
  • Strong engineering mindset - you think in systems, not just isolated tasks.
  • Ability to actively contribute to technical design processes.
  • Good understanding of optimisation and performance considerations.
  • AI affinity and interest in using AI-assisted workflows responsibly, where they improve engineering quality or productivity.
  • Communicate clearly and build strong collaboration across all disciplines.
  • Very good English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team.
  • Comfortable working in a Windows-based development environment.
  • Availability from around June 2026 or as soon as possible.

Nice to have:

  • Previous lead or sub-lead experience.
  • Experience with behaviour trees.
  • Experience with Plugins like Odin, Behaviour Tree, R3, UniTask, Addressables or Amplify Shader
  • Experience with Rider or Visual Studio.
  • Experience mentoring other developers.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development workflows in professional software or game production contexts.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary game teams with art and design.

Sounds like you?

We are very much looking forward to your application. Please apply with your current CV and a link to your portfolio (for example GitHub, Artstation, or your personal website), so we can get a good impression of your previous projects.
