Coffee Moth Games is a small independent game studio with experience across VR and AAA development. We are currently focused on Folk-Tography, a 4-player co-op cryptid photography extraction game where players photograph legendary creatures, investigate paranormal anomalies, manage scarce resources, and try to escape with the evidence.
The Role
We are looking for a social-media-focused short-form video creator who can turn Folk-Tography gameplay into funny, polished, highly shareable content. The game is built around co-op chaos, cryptids, strange encounters, and unpredictable moments that work naturally in short-form video.
This is not a community-management role. Your focus will be creating, packaging, posting, and iterating on social content so our development team can stay focused on building the game.
What You'll Do
- Create 3 polished short-form videos per week, with a 4th when time and scope reasonably allow.
- Edit gameplay clips into strong vertical videos with effective hooks, pacing, captions, sound, and platform-appropriate formatting.
- Post and cross-post content to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts; use other social platforms when appropriate.
- Write captions, titles, hashtags, and other post copy.
- Use our existing library of raw gameplay footage and request additional clips when needed.
- Optionally capture your own gameplay footage; we can provide access to the game.
- Experiment with concepts that fit the game's funny, chaotic, cryptid-focused identity.
- Review basic performance data and use it to improve future content.
- Help grow awareness of Folk-Tography, Steam wishlists, and our broader community.
What We're Looking For
- A strong sense for short-form video: hooks, pacing, comedic timing, and what makes people keep watching.
- Strong editing ability and attention to polish.
- An understanding of TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts culture and formats.
- Comfort working with gaming footage and recognizing entertaining moments.
- Good written communication and reliability in a remote freelance environment.
- Interest in co-op games, cryptids, horror/comedy, or internet gaming culture is a big plus.
Experience is not the deciding factor. We care far more about the quality of your work, your instincts, and the results you can produce than years of professional experience. Students, early-career creators, and self-taught editors are welcome to apply.
Engagement Details
- Pay: $15 USD/hour
- Hours: Up to 8 hours per week
- Trial: 30-day paid trial, with the possibility of continuing
- Location: Remote — United States
- Schedule: Flexible; reliable weekly output matters more than fixed daily hours
- Start: ASAP, ideally next week (September 7th)
- Relationship: Independent freelance contractor
Content Ownership
The selected contractor will be asked to sign a simple written contractor agreement assigning the studio ownership of paid deliverables and giving the studio full commercial rights to post, edit, reuse, reformat, advertise with, and otherwise use that content across its channels and marketing.
How to Apply
Please send:
- 3-4 examples of short-form videos you personally edited or created.
- A short note about your role in creating those examples, especially if they were collaborative.
- A brief note about why Folk-Tography or this role interests you.
- Your name, location/time zone, and availability to begin.
A formal resume is welcome but not required. Your portfolio and creative instincts matter much more to us.
