Foxglove Games is a small indie studio creating visual novels and romance games. We’re looking for a lead artist to draw 2D visual novel-style sprites and illustrations for our next game, Burn the Midnight Oil. 

We have character design references ready for the game’s main cast, but your responsibilities would include designing the side cast from scratch.  

General Information

• This is a paid, remote, part-time role with task-based work
• Hours are going to be “as needed”. In other words, the amount of work may be inconsistent from one month to another depending on what we’re working on at the moment! Our chosen candidate would be expected to jump straight into working on the assets for our crowdfunding demo
• As part of the selection process, we may ask you for a paid art test

Responsibilities

• Designing characters based on mood boards and design docs provided by the writers
• Drawing visual novel-style character sprites with various expressions, pose changes, and outfits
• Drawing visual novel-style illustrations for special scenes in the game

Requirements

• Character design examples in portfolio
• Character-focused illustrations in portfolio
• Strong English communication skills to effectively communicate with the rest of the team
• Available to work on this project long-term (next two years) 

Bonuses:

• A general understanding of visual novels
• Previous experience working with teams and deadlines 
• Previous experience working on video games, visual novels, or similar projects

Compensation:

We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience. Depending on the candidate’s experience, we offer a rate between $25/hour to $40/hour. 

It is our expectation that a more experienced candidate might be able to complete work that can be approved with fewer revisions and hours.
